Bluetooth 5 LED App

As the lead product designer part of small team, we worked to launch the 2nd Gen LED product line, that would use Bluetooth 5.0 and a new chipset capable of individual colour LED control, making each strip like a row of pixels.

For the customer that means they could create dynamic light patterns with movement, a kaleidoscope in and around their cars!

There were a number of constraints on this project and many months of consultation was done with both developers and hardware experts to discuss feasibility and technical specs.

Based on this research, I formalized the hardware specifications and we eventually chose to develop the project with the origin manufacturer of Gen 1. Though I did not agree with this course, time to launch was tight and it would effectively save time.

Benchmarking both competitors and the Philips Hue app gave me references for how we could truly build a greatly improved app experience for car lighting. Unlike Gen 1, one of the ideas was to have the main screen where essentially your favorite preset light patterns easy to select.
